DETROIT – Nick Jensen hit it big in Las Vegas during the Detroit Red Wings’ bye week.
But Jensen’s windfall had nothing to do with the blackjack tables, slot machines or sports books.
Instead, while vacationing with wife Jennifer in Sin City, the Red Wings rookie defenseman got word that he was receiving a two-year contract extension.
Jensen said his agent and the Red Wings had been working on the deal for a couple of weeks before agreeing on the terms last week.
“I wasn’t really sure exactly when it was coming but we planned a vacation to Las Vegas, me and my wife,” Jensen said Monday. “We’ve never been. I found out there but we had that vacation planned for a while.
“It was a fun, interesting trip.”
Did the trip have anything to do with scouting potential real estate should the Red Wings expose Jensen to Las Vegas during the upcoming expansion draft?
