HGTV’s Scott Brothers throw ‘House Party’ in Costa Mesa – Orange County Register

Somewhere in between filming a new season of their HGTV show “Brother vs. Brother,” writing a new book and launching an indoor furniture line, twin brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott have prepared a new platform to display their multiple talents for their first live theatrical show “The Scott Brothers House Party.”

The entrepreneurial duo – best known for their Emmy Award-nominated television show “Property Brothers” – will perform a variety show that will present everything from magic tricks (yes, Jonathan is a magician) to providing room consultations for audience members with their real estate agent and contractor eyes.  The show will be presented at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts on Sunday, July 23.

Since the newly engaged Drew was busy filming his new episodes of the upcoming show “Property Brothers at Home: Drew’s Honeymoon House” (to air starting in November), he was not available for an interview, but his brother Jonathan was excited to talk on behalf of both of them about their newest project.

“This is going to be the Scott brothers on steroids. There’s a full show and a lot is packed into the show, but we come from an improv background, so a lot of it will be based on the reactions from the audience,” said Scott, “So if the audience takes it in a different direction, we’re going to roll with it.”

Scott said the idea of the live show came from the fact that the best part of their busy schedules was doing live appearances with their fans throughout the country. “Our schedule is maddening,” Scott said. “We don’t get a lot of downtime. But the most fun time we have is when we get to hang out face-to-face with our fans. So we thought, instead of us just sporadically doing a whole bunch of appearances all over, why don’t we coordinate it? So we put together a show that has everything our fans will want.”

The 39-year-old designer and licensed contractor Jonathan and real estate agent Drew have built an empire in the last decade with multiple top-rated HGTV series displaying their fun personas and sibling rivalry, as well as their knack for finding and renovating houses. They have an extensive fan base, with more than six million followers combined across their social media accounts.

But their talent does not stop at just their good eye for fixer-uppers. The Canadian-born brothers were always up to something entrepreneurial even as kids, Scott said; they acted in theater, improv, sketch comedy and performed as clowns at parties and events, charging up to $100 per hour.

As co-founders of Scott Brothers Entertainment, which produces content in all genres for TV, film and digital platforms, the two also launched Scott Living, a designer collection of indoor and outdoor furniture, décor and bedding….
